Medical Retina
The retina is a delicate layer at the back of the eye on which an image of an object is formed. It plays a vital role in vision.
Medical retina services at Aditya Netralaya focus on the diagnosis and treatment of
retinal diseases caused by diabetes, ageing, inflammation, and vascular disorders. Early
detection and timely treatment are essential to prevent permanent vision loss.
Our medical retina department is equipped with advanced diagnostic tools and is led by
experienced specialists who provide precise, ethical, and personalized care for complex
retinal conditions.
Topcon 3D OCT-1 Maestro2 is a OCT fundus imaging system that provides automated, high-resolution imaging of the retinal layers, which documents the structure of retina, enabling accurate and reliable diagnosis. The device captures true-color fundus photographs, and multiple images can be stitched together to generate a widefield view of the peripheral fundus. Its rapid image acquisition and automated alignment enhance patient comfort and improve examination efficiency.
Retinal Conditions We Treat
-
Diabetic Retinopathy: Detection and treatment of vision-threatening
complications of diabetes caused by bleeding or fluid leakage inside the eye.
-
Age-Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD): The wet type causes rapid vision
deterioration and distortion, while the dry type leads to gradual vision loss
due to ageing.
-
Retinal Vascular Occlusions: Sudden vision loss due to blockage of
retinal arteries or veins. We identify the cause and provide targeted treatment.
-
Peripheral Retinal Lesions: Certain retinal breaks can lead to retinal
detachment. Preventive laser treatment is used to seal these areas.
-
Uveitis: Inflammation of the inner and middle layers of the eye. We
diagnose underlying causes and manage the condition with medications or
injections when required.
Advanced Diagnostic Services
-
Thorough retinal examination using special lenses
-
Fundus Photography with instant images and digital records for comparison
-
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) to detect fluid accumulation, abnormal blood
vessels, and structural retinal changes
Retinal Treatments & Procedures
-
Laser Treatment for Diabetic Retinopathy: Timely laser therapy helps
prevent further vision loss. Dr. H.V. Srinivas has specialized training from
England in sight-saving retinal laser procedures.
-
Intravitreal Anti-VEGF Injections (Latest Therapy): Used to reduce fluid,
shrink abnormal blood vessels, and stabilize vision in diabetic retinopathy,
ARMD, and vein occlusions.
-
Intravitreal Triamcinolone Acetonide Injection: A steroid injection used
in selected retinal conditions to reduce inflammation and fluid accumulation.
